Medical Attention Rendered In Wake Of Domestic Altercation
Medical attention was rendered to a Columbia man Tuesday after he allegedly become involved in a domestic altercation with his girlfriend while riding inside her vehicle.
According to reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department warrants were obtained Tuesday afternoon against 100 Dalton Avenue, Columbia resident Bobby Joe Cooper, age 35.
Officers were dispatched to intervene in an altercation between Cooper and his girlfriend shortly after 1:30 p.m. Motorists reported that the quarrelling couple had stopped near Coleman Memorial United Methodist Church on North Military Avenue and began walking.
The female involved told officers that they had been engaged in an argument when Cooper began to punch her dashboard and windshield.
The action reportedly caused damage to the vehicle and dislodged the rearview mirror. She said she parked, got out and began to walk in order to avoid further confrontation.
When they spoke with Cooper, officers said he admitted he had punched the vehicle, but said he had never threatened his girlfriend. Cooper received medical evaluation at the scene and was transported to Crockett Hospital for further treatment.
Warrants were issued charging Cooper with one count of domestic vandalism. He will be required to answer the charge through Lawrence County General Sessions Court.
